What tech do you travel with and why?

I always travel with my laptop, BlackBerry and iPod; my laptop, because I'm a spreadsheet junky, my BlackBerry so I know what's going on and the iPod for music so I can switch off.

What's your favourite phone app for travelling and why?

Salesforce, so I can approve purchase orders! Time Magazine to keep me up to date and Google Maps to help me find my way around my various destinations.

Personal travel advice/tip?

I always check-in online so that I'm not stressed when I get to the airport. I also reserve my seat at least two or three days before I leave so I know exactly where I'm sitting on the plane.

How do you deal with jet lag?

When travelling west I stay awake and drink a nice bottle of red. However, when travelling east I stay awake and don't drink any nice reds — just water.

What was your biggest travel disaster?

In January this year I was sitting on the tarmac in Sydney on a Qantas flight to San Diego and heard this incredible noise. One of our plane's engines had just blown up. We were all evacuated and were a little shaken because of what could have happened mid flight.

Is there one thing you must do before you leave home?

I always kiss the family, tell them that I love them, and remind them who's boss while dad is away!

What is your dream travel tech to have on planes/in airports/at hotels?

For planes, it would be a wireless connection on international flights. For airports, it would be a gadget to make it easier and faster to check in for international flights and eradicate queuing. For hotels, it would be faster room service — not sure what gadget could change this!

Favourite destination city to work/visit & why?

Coming back home to Sydney is my favourite destination. It's such a great city with great golf courses and, of course, my heart is here with my family. Plus technology works like a dream in Sydney!

Which airport would you prefer to be stranded at and why?

It has to be Abu Dhabi International airport! It has an amazing lounge, great showers and loads of food.
