Verizon already sells out of Droid X online; next ship date pushed back

The Droid X has proven to be as popular as the hype leading up the launch might have suggested. So popular in fact that Verizon Wireless has already sold out of the Motorola smartphone online and pushed the next shipping date back to July 23.

Selling for $199 with the signing of a new two-year contract, it looks like anyone dying to get a Droid X immediately could still do so in stores at either Verizon or Best Buy. But there's no instant $100 rebate there.

Did any of you try to buy the Droid X online and turn out to be unsuccessful? Will you wait until July 23 to get one online, or are seven days just too much to ask?
