in brief There are 38 Victorian councils and one library on the market for telecommunications services and hardware.

The councils, according to tender documentation recently released, are looking for a supplier to provide varying services and hardware to each council over a period of three years with an optional one year extension.

The services and hardware required were mobile telephony, fixed data wide area networks, fixed internet, wireless mobile data, mobile voice and data hardware, conferencing, billing and invoicing as well as reporting tools.

The tender pages estimated that the required services for the interested councils would add up to just under $11 million per year. The tender was released by the Municipal Association of Victoria as an agent for the councils. The Association represents Victoria's 79 councils.
