SmartPlanet went to check out the Health 2.0 conference in San Francisco.
On Monday, SmartPlanet saw dozens of companies demo their products, but here are a few that caught our eye:
- Walgreens mobile app: Refilling prescriptions at Walgreens is literally a snap. Take a picture of the bottle and select where you want to pick it up.
- Zeo's new mobile sleep system: They say a measured life is a better life. Instead of using the groggy morning feeling as a judge for how well you slept at night, strap on this monitor to quantify your sleep quality. Sensors in the headband measure your sleep patterns and records are sent automatically to the app on your phone. The company also offers recommendations on ways to improve your sleep such as the amount of caffeine intake.
- MyCalmBeat app from My Brain Solutions: If you're feeling stressed out at work, there's a new app to calm you down. First attach a heart rate monitor to your ear to show you how fast you should be breathing. Then use an app to coach your breathing.
You may not use a fitness or health app, but there currently 9,000 consumer health apps available in the AppStore. By next summer, there will be 13,000 apps available to consumers.
