Just in time for holiday shopping, Viewsonic has announced the availability of their sleek new portable media player that can fit in the palm of your hand: the VPD400 MovieBook

The MovieBook hosts a 4.3-inch, 800 x 480 resolution screen along with 8 GB of internal memory and the option for more storage with a Micro SD card slot. Users should be able to expect the battery to last up to 12 hours for audio playback, 6 hours of regular video, but only 3 hours for HD video. Since its small and compact, it would make a great gadget to travel with, so long as you don't use the battery up too fast. Some other nifty features include being able to read electronic books, flip through photo albums and record voice memos.

Geek.com speculates that there might be a touchscreen, since it isn't quite clear based on the photo, even to me, how to control this gadget. But with the low asking price of $130, don't bet on it. And since it's pretty cheap for what it offers, comes in a trio of colors (black, white or pink), and available now, it would make a pretty nice Christmas gift.

Think you might pick one of these up?
