Virgin Mobile spanked over spam text
The Australian Communications and Media Authority has accepted an enforceable undertaking offered by Virgin Mobile (Australia) Pty Ltd, following an investigation into alleged breaches of the Spam Act.
A sneaky attempt by Optus Group brand Virgin Mobile to get around "opt out" rules that govern text and email marketing campaigns, has landed it in trouble with Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). It was issued a $22,000 fine for its deeds.
