McAfee AVERT Wireless to offer latest virus info via the wireless Web

August 10, 2000 -- McAfee, a Network Associates, Inc. today announced a service that enables mobile phone users to access the latest information about Internet viruses and malicious code.

Th McAfee AVERT (Anti-Virus Emergency Response Team) Wireless service is claimed to be the industry's first WAP-enabled service to send up-to-the-minute information on the latest virus threats.

McAfee AVERT works closely with McAfee Active Virus Defense customers and the anti-virus research community to provide Internet virus security services, information, diagnostics, cures and protection from new viruses as they come into existence.

The McAfee Active Virus Defense suite is the next generation, easy-to-manage integrated Internet virus security solution that enables e-businesses to centrally manage virus policy, offer customizable updates and configurations, stop email-based virus outbreaks before they occur, and use graphical reporting methods to get a comprehensive view of savings provided by each tier in their anti-virus defense strategy -- all over the Internet.
