This week on The Dan & David Show, we cover the roll out of Vista Beta 2 (will it really ship in January?), the Yahoo/eBay tie up, and the ongoing barrage of prognostications about the outcome of a Microsoft and Google battle. David says the key metric for a Web giants is reach (especially advertising reach). It's also about pull through, leading with a product and dragging the others behind. For Google, the game is selling ads of every kind, everywhere, same for Yahoo. Now Microsoft is trying to figure out how to join the fun in a big way. In addition, we discuss Salesforce.com's latest scheme to expand its ecosystem, Microsoft's FlexGo ownership model for emerging markets, and the Open Doc (too slow)/Microsoft Open XML (too heavy) debate. As a bonus, David describes his notion of knowledge versus documents.
