New Zealand and Australian-listed cinema management software developer Vista Group is poised to acquire Dallas-based rival Ticketsoft.

Vista said it has signed a conditional agreement to acquire Ticketsoft; however, it is keeping the terms of the agreement confidential.

The company told investors today that the deal is subject to commercially sensitive conditions that it is confident it can meet.

The planned acquisition will expand Vista's client base in North America, the company said, and accelerate its efforts to offer complementary services to customers.

Ticketsoft's software is used in more than 200 cinemas, representing more than 2,000 screens, for point of sale, self-service kiosk, internet and mobile ticketing, gift and customer loyalty cards, head office systems, and real-time management and analysis.

Vista is the world's leading supplier of software to cinemas, with an estimated 37 percent global market share in large cinemas. It claims customers in 60 countries, including more than 950 across the US.
