Wake on LAN attracts new followers
IBM and AMD's Wake on LAN technology could become a more familiar sight over the coming months.
Wake on LAN provides the ability for network managers to remotely power up systems in order to deliver software upgrades, carry out inventory checks on system configurations, and other common tasks. IBM is slowly including it on all its business desktops and now, Compaq and Dell are likely to follow Hewlett-Packard by including the technology on systems.
