Will we see a Windows Phone 7 device on Verizon before Christmas?

I was checking the Marketplace today and found three apps labeled with Verizon Wireless branding. Does this mean devices are coming soon?

Windows Phone 7 is apparently selling well with new apps launching regularly, but at this time devices with this OS are only available on T-Mobile and AT&T in the USA. I browse through the Marketplace every day or two in order to see what new apps are in there and tonight I saw that there are now some labeled with Verizon Wireless prominently displayed. Is there going to be a Windows Phone 7 device launched from Verizon before the end of 2010?

The last we heard was that Sprint and Verizon would be getting Windows Phone 7 devices in early 2011 and I expect we will hear more about this at CES in a couple of weeks. However, with apps now in the Marketplace with Verizon Wireless branding we may see these devices soon or maybe there are just several of them out there being actively tested. The following apps are now in the Marketplace with Verizon Wireless branding:

  • Slacker Radio
  • Netflix
  • My Verizon Mobile

All three of these have a release date of 12/21/2010 and are the same core apps found on my T-Mobile HTC HD7 device. Will we see Windows Phone 7 on Verizon in time for Christmas?
