If you've been waiting for the unveiling and launch of Windows Phone 7, you won't have to hold out much longer.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Microsoft and AT&T are teaming up to officially unveil the "revamped version" of the anticipated mobile operating system on Monday, October 11. Then on November 8, at least three smartphones from different manufacturers (LG, Samsung and HTC) will be on shelves.

Looks like these two are planning to take the holiday season by storm, but Microsoft has a bit of an uphill battle following major releases on the Android and iOS platforms this year. A few handhelds come to mind: the Droid Incredible, Droid X, Droid 2, Samsung Galaxy S series...oh, and the iPhone 4. We'll know more in less than two weeks, but hopefully Microsoft has something spectacular in store for us.

Have any of you been waiting to buy a smartphone until the new WP7 is released?
