ZDNet Asia's sister site, ZDNet Australia, will present a live TechLines broadcast on cloud computing, and what the concept will mean to Australian businesses and government.

To be streamed on Feb. 17, at noon, the broadcast will feature a panel of cloud computing specialists from the likes of Microsoft, IBM and Ovum, this discussion will delve into the issues and challenges organizations face as they attempt to determine how they might benefit by moving aspects of their business into the cloud (or whether they should even bother).

The TechLines panel will be made up of the following experts:

  • Gianpaolo Carraro, Microsoft developer, and platform evangelism and services director;
  • Glenn Wightwick, IBM director of research and development, Australia, and chief technologist for IBM Australia;
  • Kevin Noonan, research director of public sector at Ovum; and
  • Mark Pesce, futurist.

The panel will also examine the stages of business evolution organizations needed to go through to become "cloud ready" and look at important issues such as data security and service reliability.

We will be updating this page with further details on the event in the coming days.

A limited number of seats for the live event, which will be held at Sydney Theatre at Walsh Bay, are available. For details, visit ZDNet Australia's site or e-mail the team with your name, company and job title.
