The $30 billion deal between Comcast and NBC Universal will obviously face regulatory scrutiny before it can be finalized. Today, the Wall Street Journal reports that the Justice Department will take the lead on the governmental review.
Separately, the Washington Post this week cited sources who said that Senate lawmakers will hold a hearing either late this month or early next month to review the merger. Chairman Brian Roberts and NBC Universal President Jeff Zucker are expected to appear at the hearing, the source said.
