IamEmo uses a colourful animated chameleon called Emo that allows users to easily express their mood in messages. Emo expresses a range of emotions, such as excited, sad, cheeky, angry and romantic.
Under Telstra's agreement with moodmessaging, Telstra customers will get access to IamEmo characters including some that have been specifically designed to align with Telstra's sponsorship and marketing efforts such as Australian Idol.
moodmessaging will also provide Telstra with exclusive customised content preloaded onto selected Nokia handsets.
Telstra consumer and marketing, youth segment head, Matthew Willsher, said IamEmo is the smiley face for the 21st century and may change the way people communicate with their mobile phones.
"A common criticism of standard mobiles messages is that it's difficult to convey feelings, emotions or even the meaning of a message. With IamEmo, customers can easily give emphasis, joy and uniqueness to their messages to reflect their personality and better communicate their message," Willsher said.
moodmessaging, which was launched in 2003, landed a deal with Nokia in July to have IamEmo pre-loaded into a Nokia handset model.
