Monster on Wednesday introduced its SuperThin HDMI cables, which are just 3.5 millimeters thick but pack an astounding price that ranges from $90 to $170.

The idea of HDMI has always been to combine functions in one cable, and Monster's new 3.5mm versions certainly do the trick with style, making them 65 percent thinner and, by extension, easier to lug around.

That said, the price tag is steep for cables that aren't HDMI 1.4 compatible, though can technically support that regulation's maximum transfer speed of 10.2 Gbps. I've got a hunch that it's perfect for 3D movies.
