Cisco acquires Virtuata

Virtuata specializes in securing virtual machines. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

Cisco said Monday that it will acquire Virtuata, a privately held company that focuses on virtual machine security.

According to Cisco, Virtuata will bring technology than secures virtualized environments. Virtual machine security could become a big issue as data centers increasingly move to cloud infrastructure.

Cisco said that Virtuata will be lumped into its data center group. Virtuata had been in stealth mode.

Terms of the deal as well as Virtuata's product plans weren't disclosed. Cisco said that the acquisition is consistent with its build, buy or partner efforts to bolster its technology stack.
