Abandoned auction compared to 'selling virginity or souls'

An internet entrepreneur who put herself up for auction on eBay last week was offered a whopping £10m by bidders intent on becoming her husband. However, one day after her ad - which has a reserve price of £250,000 - went up on the site, Kay Hammond, MD of ISP Tamba Internet, was ordered to withdraw her lot. eBay executives were concerned the auction was immoral. A spokeswoman equated the move to disposing of your virginity to the highest bidder or "selling souls". Hammond may put herself up for auction on other internet sites after the 11 bids taken over eBay were annulled by the company. Hammond got the idea for the auction after her love life suffered as she worked on the development of her internet company.
