General Motors has launched a web-based intranet for its 180,000 strong US workforce. The portal, called mySocrates, replaces GM's existing intranet, which was previously available to a limited number of staff on an internal network. Now employees can access mySocrates through America Online from their workstations or home computers. mySocrates includes details on e-learning, electronic pay stubs, news, weather and traffic reports.
