Former Virginia Governor and presumed Democratic Presidential nomination hopeful Mark Warner made an appearance in the Second Life virtual world at the end of last month.

That's Gov. Warner's avatar.

All this made me curious enough to join.

That's a screen from Second Life. You have to take one of the last names they give you. I chose Shermer, in honor of Michael Shermer- who I disagree with about very little FYI.

But then I see this big IM box in the left hand corner.

Now I've gotten to wondering- why not VoIP in Second Life?

I mean, how hard would it be to build a voice application in SL that could travel along with the packets?

I'm not a Second Life authority but I'd bet that some of you are.

So let me throw out a question:

Would it be possible to bundle a softphone into Second Life's IM?

Or into the main Second Life areas?
