SEOUL, 25 May 2000 (Asia Pulse) - According to the Electronic Industries Association of Korea (EIAK), imports of high-speed Internet equipment in the January-April period reached US$560 million, up 323 percent from the same period last year.
Optical fiber cable and transmission-related equipment rose 316 percent and ADSL equipment including cable modems rose 325 percent.
The rise of such imports is due to the preference of domestic Internet businesses of foreign equipment over those made domestically, industry sources said.
