Small-to-medium businesses drove a 145 percent growth in broadband subscribers for Pacific Internet Australia over the past year, according to the company.
Broadband revenue now contributes 51 percent of the ISPs total annual revenue, Pacific Internet Australia revealed in its fourth-quarter and Full Year 2003 financial report. In Australia the corporate sector is now contributing 54 percent to total annual revenues. In overall market terms, many Australian SMBs choose to use residential broadband plans over the business equivalent.
Pacific Internet has businesses in Singapore, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Australia, India, Thailand and Malaysia. Across the region the ISP saw total broadband users rise by 56.3 percent to 58,000 from the end of 2002 to the end of 2003, and broadband revenues rise by 60.7 percent to US$39.4 million over the same period.
Singapore and Hong Kong are now reaching saturation take-up of broadband, and are beginning to see the growth of unlimited broadband products, according to Pacific Internet.
