Palm is to allow paid-for applications for European users of its Pre handset from March, the firm announced on Sunday.

The company already developers to sell applications for its webOS platform in the United States, and says it has accumulated 600 paid-for apps in its store over the last two months.

In Europe, the Palm Pre is available in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Germany. For now, however, all the apps that are available here for webOS are free.

Those developers interested in submitting paid-for apps for sale in the UK can visit Palm's developer page for further details.
