Palm garners Europe distribution for Pre; Inks 02, Movistar deals

Palm said Tuesday that its Pre phone will be coming to the UK, Ireland and Germany via the O2 network. In Spain, the Pre will be distributed via the Movistar network. Palm will debut the Pre in Canada with Bell Mobility in the second half of the year.

In a statement, Palm said the Europe Pre launch will kick off in "time for the holidays."

Palm also touted that the Pre broke Sprint's first weekend sales record, but still hasn't divulged numbers. On Palm's fiscal fourth quarter conference call, CEO Jonathan Rubinstein said that the Pre and WebOS was a good opportunity to "expand our footprint in international markets."

Analysts estimate that Palm will ship more than 500,000 units through August.
