Residential solar company SunRun moves into Hawaii

My mother lives in Hawaii, where she has no heat or air-conditioning and relies on a hot water/solar thermal system that is powered (most of the time) by solar energy. So I have always found it astonishing that the Hawaiin Islands haven't been bigger into solar energy investments for the home.

That's about to change with the launch of SunRun's new home solar installation service, which covers the chain's most populous islands of Hawaii, Maui and Oahu. The company is teaming up with two local integrators, RevoluSun and Sunetric. The big pitch by SunRun is that it, not you, owns the panels, which it installs, monitors, maintains and insures. So, in theory, you can get solar installed for no money down and start sourcing solar power within a matter of months.

SunRun now offers its services across seven U.S. states.
