On the eve of the publication of the government's Digital Communications white paper, Sky Television has launched two new interactive digital TV services.

Sky Digital will now offer a betting service, allowing users to have a flutter via their TV. It is also launching a text service, with 2,000 pages of content available for users. Tomorrow's white paper, which will set a regulatory framework for digital TV services in the UK. Players are concerned that the BBC is gaining an unfair advantage by using licence payer's money to fund otherwise commercially unviable services.
