It's not confimed yet, but this rumor is getting some buzz: Sprint might be partnering with Walmart in setting up their 4G WiMax network across the United States.

According to Android Guys, Sprint is already planning to release handsets for the high-speed WiMax network later this year. And a lot of those hotspot towers could find themselves on top of Walmarts around the nation.

Now they're tasked with determining how many of these supersized stores are within a 30-50 mile radius of each other. Given that some parts of the country are littered in Walmarts, this might make sense.

However, certain areas, especially large and crowded urban centers, are sparsely populated with Walmarts. (Thank goodness. The closest one to San Francisco is around 20 to 30 miles away from the city limits, and I haven't seen one near New York City. I'm more of a Target fan anyway.)
