The section of egg.com relating to checking and servicing accounts has been out of action since Monday.
Customers of online bank Egg may soon be able to access their accounts via the internet for the first time this week as the company says it has identified the problems that have resulted in crippling downtime. A spokeswoman for Egg said: "We have now identified the problem and found a solution. We are testing that solution now and are confident we'll be able to get the site fully operational soon." She would not be drawn on a more specific timetable.
