in brief The Communications, Electrical and Plumbing Union has confirmed that unionised Telstra workers will be striking this weekend.

The Telstra workers involved will put a ban on overtime, recalls and callbacks from 12:01am Saturday to 11:59pm on Sunday.

Yesterday, union national president Ed Husic had said that action would go ahead as long as enough workers were back from their Christmas holidays. The strike had been on hold over the holiday so as not to disturb communications between families during the festive period.

The strike first started early last month after unionised workers voted in favour of industrial action to bring Telstra back to the negotiating table with unions over a new employment agreement. The telco had walked away from talks in July last year. Telstra was unavailable for comment.
