Some 800 companies providing content and services to i-mode wireless devices can look forward to heightened security and privacy across all channels.
They will be able to leverage initial i-mode support in an upcoming release of SecureWay Policy Director, a Tivoli Systems product that promises the provision of secure authentication and authorization to applications and data accessed through i-mode wireless devices.
Initial testing has been completed using i-mode wireless devices in Tokyo and Tivoli SecureWay Policy Director software in the Tivoli Gold Coast Laboratory in Australia.
The i-mode support is combined with support for Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) devices, which has been available with Tivoli SecureWay Policy Director since December 2000.
According to NTT DoCoMo, i-mode has an estimated 25 million subscribers in Japan and more than 800 companies providing information services through i-mode wireless devices.
Tivoli SecureWay Policy Director is available in Japanese, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.
