CEO Mark Zuckerberg took the wraps off Facebook's latest innovation, "seamless messaging." The company's new e-mail system is built to work with Facebook IM and other IM and SMS systems.
The three areas of today's announcement include "seamless messaging," conversation history, and social inboxes.
Seamless messaging allows you and your friend to use different messaging systems to carry on a conversation.
Seamless messaging allows a person who prefers to communicate by e-mail to send a message to a person who is using chat. When the chatter returns the message in chat, it takes the form of an e-mail.
You can also communicate with a person using SMS on a cell phone.
Facebook engineer Andrew Bosworth shows off the new Facebook e-mail addresses.
The new Facebook allows you to categorize friends who will go into your regular inbox. Communication from others will go into a separate one.
The new system makes it easy to categorize your messages.
