Microsoft is building a tool into Windows Vista that will rate a PC based on how well it is running and on how much it can take advantage of the new operating system's capabilities. As this screenshot shows, the performance rating appears in the System panel of Vista's control panel.

Detailed look
Vista offers a detailed look at the system rating in the "Performance Rating and Tools" section of the Control Panel. This PC earned an overall 3 score, in the middle of its 1-to-5 scale.
