I'm back from my adventures at Altiris' ManageFusion. The company did a great job of putting on an informative, useful event. I'm thankful that they invited me to attend. Here are a few random thoughts I had about the event.

It is clear to me that the company sees organizations using virtualized systems on industry standard systems, regardless of the virtualization technology in use, to be a potential friend and customer for their management and backup technology. They're not overly focused on virtual machine technology to the exclusion of other forms of virtualization technology.

Intel's VPro appears to be a powerful tool to accelerate certain virtualization functions and, with the help of the appropriate management tools, more strongly secure systems. I can also foresee the same technology being seen as a potential risk to privacy and the ability of a person or an organization to control their own systems. Intel is going to have to tread very lightly as it presents some of the benefits of this technology.
