AOL buys personal landing page About.me
The Web media company buys About.me to enhance its existing e-mail and instant messaging products.

AOL has bought the social-networking aggregator about.me for an undisclosed sum, according to an announcement from the company.
AOL hopes that its purchase of About.me--co-founded by Tony Conrad, Ryan Freitas and Tim Young--will "enhance the consumer experience" of services such as AOL Mail and AIM with AOL-owned sites such Engadget and PopEater.
"Going forward, our business approach will also remain unchanged--startup-style, with the same hunger and spirit about.me was founded on...AOL is doing what great, sustainable business do every so often -- they're reinventing themselves," Conrad wrote on his personal blog.
