Apple says black is the new white (iPhone 4)

With manufacturing issues still occurring, Apple delays the white iPhone 4 yet again
Written by Joel Evans, Contributor

If you've been holding out for a white iPhone 4, I'm sad to report that your wait just got even longer.

According to a statement by Apple, the white models are still suffering from manufacturing challenges, and will not be available until later this year:

"White models of Apple’s new iPhone 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected …"

I'm not sure what type of challenges Apple is facing, but the latest delay is causing people like Kevin Tofel to speculate that perhaps this time Apple is going to take advantage of the delay and fix the antenna, too.

My guess is that it's just some weird process issue that they're having making the casing white. If Apple was to suddenly release a white version with a fixed antenna, they'd have to do a lot more than offer up a free case to calm down the masses.

It's currently unknown when a white iPhone 4 will finally ship. So, if you've been holding out, you might as well put your order in for a black iPhone 4, since at this stage it's definitely going to be way after September before the white ones show up.
