Asus on Tuesday introduced its new Intel Core i7-powered gaming laptop inspired by stealth fighter jets, the R.O.G. ("Republic of Gamers") G73Jh.

The new system -- a high-end performance machine from a company known for its low-power lightweight netbooks -- is visually inspired by the Lockheed F117A Nighthawk Stealth Fighter and is the first DirectX 11-compatible gaming laptop, the company says.

The 17.3-inch system manages 1,920 by 1,080 pixel resolution and is powered by a single ATI Radeon HD5870 card. Inside, dual 7200rpm 500GB hard drives and a Blu-ray drive keep content flowing.

Built based on the company's AIRO concept shown at CES last year, the G73Jh uses a "backflow" air flow concept that pulls in cool air through the front edge and exhausts it through a rear vent, to keep the computer cool to the touch.

It also has a backlit keyboard that's tapered and on a slight angle.

It will be available in February for $1,699.
