The Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance has told ZDNet Australia that it plans to announce the winner of its whole-of-government datacentre accommodation services tender in August.

Issued on 18 November 2009, the tender calls for a vendor to provide whole-of-government datacentre needs for a five-year period. The contract has two subsequent five-year extension options attached, which would stretch the contract out to 15 years in total.

According to the department, unsuccessful tender entrants have already been formally notified.

The Government Services Group had originally intended to execute proposed contracts with the successful entrant by April 2010. The tender date was then moved back again to May 2010.

Mac Dalton, senior public affairs advisor for the Department of Treasury and Finance said that he "wouldn't necessarily say that there has been a delay".

"We've been conducting further evaluations with shortlisted tenderers throughout March and April. [Releasing the shortlist] hasn't been our practice in the past and [it is] not with this tender either."

The Victorian and New South Wales State governments announced separate datacentre tenders within a month of each other last October. New South Wales recently announced its datacentre shortlist after also suffering delays.
