"As you turn to the convenience of mobile phones to do banking, Bankwest will release an optimised version of [Bankwest Online Banking] and [Online Business Banking] that's formatted specifically for use on iPhones and Nokia smartphones," the company said in a statement on Saturday.
Bankwest also plans roll-out improvements to its online banking platforms beyond the visual upgrade.
Customers will be able to increase their credit card spend limits online as opposed to going into a branch, as well as use pre-populating online credit card applications to speed up the process.
The refreshed website and new online and mobile improvements mark a push towards improving the Bankwest customer experience, or — as it calls it — promoting "happy banking".
Updated at 8:58pm, 15 September 2010: the article said that Bankwest would be releasing a stand-alone mobile banking application on Friday. Bankwest is in fact rendering its banking portal specifically for "small screen" devices such as smartphones.
