Following a rise in information technology job ads last month, two major Victorian organisations are seeking new chief information officers (CIO).

Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) organisation Simplot Australia, and Victoria's Department of Sustainability and Environment are seeking candidates to fill CIO positions.

Simplot is the parent umbrella for food brands including I&J, John West, Leggo's and Chiko — of Chiko Roll fame.

While Simplot is looking for a candidate with relevant tertiary qualifications and IT project know-how, FMCG experience is not a mandatory requirement. Instead, Simplot is after a candidate that can "drive the strategic alignment of the IT group".

In a similar vein, Victoria's Department of Sustainability and Environment is looking for a CIO to deliver "information and communications systems and applications across the business".

Victoria's Department of Sustainability and Environment is the state's agency in charge of "promoting and managing the sustainability of the natural environment".
