Compaq adds satellite service - in US
Compaq Computer Corp. has signed a deal with Hughes Network Systems in the US to bundle DirecPC high-speed Satellite Internet service with its Presario line of computers.

Compaq Computer Corp. has signed a deal with Hughes Network Systems in the US to bundle DirecPC high-speed Satellite Internet service with its Presario line of computers. The systems will start at $1,899 (£1,160), and will be available through Compaq kiosks in retail stores, as well as on the Compaq Web site.
The satellite package includes a USB modem and antenna, which allows connection to the Internet at speeds up to 400 kilobits per second.
