LED lighting company Cree, active in the LED City movement, has shrunk the size of its LED chips with two new components: the XLamp XE-E and XP-C LED series.
Both products are roughly 80 percent smaller than Cree's predecessor products, measuring 3.45 millimeters square by 2 millimeters high. The company expects they'll be used for things like backlighting, signage, outdoor or portable lighting.
