After collecting roughly 96 million pounds of electronic waste at locations in the United States, Dell and Goodwill Industries are teaming up with a Goodwill affiliate called Renaissance in order to extend the Reconnect program to locations in Southwestern Quebec and London, Ontario. There are currently about 1,900 locations.

The computers and accessories collected through the six-year-old Reconnect program typically are either resold, refurbished or broken down for reuse by Dell partners. In any case, they are diverted from landfills and, over time, have created more than 250 jobs in the progress. Dell picked Goodwill as its partners since people think of the organization when they donate other items. Why not computers?
