Dell announces soaring sales and revenues

Dell has reported a 22 per cent rise in revenue and a 40 per cent rise in net income for the third quarter of the fiscal year.

Dell has reported a 22 per cent rise in revenue and a 40 per cent rise in net income for the third quarter of the fiscal year.

However, shares in the company fell in extended hours trading after CEO Michael Dell admitted the next quarter would not be so good. The number one US PC vendor said net income was up from $289m to $674m for the quarter and saw revenues rise to $8.26bn compared to $6.78bn for the same quarter last year. The direct PC vendor said sales of enterprise products were up 37 per cent with notebook sales up by 45 pre cent. In a prepared statement, Michael Dell, chairman and CEO at Dell, said: "More than 50 per cent of our revenue, and about two thirds of our operating profit, came from sales of enterprise products notebooks and services."
