update Dell has officially entered the retail business in Taiwan, partnering Genuine C&C to offer desktops, notebooks and LCD products to customers.

An Asia-Pacific spokesperson for Dell told ZDNet Asia Friday, that the company began its retail foray in the Taiwanese market about two weeks ago. Dell did not publicize its tie-up with Genuine C&C, which claims to be one of the top three IT distributors in Taiwan.

A report in ChinaTechNews.com Friday indicated that Genuine C&C is an exclusive retail partner for Dell, but the spokesperson could not immediately confirm or deny this. He noted, however, that Dell typically does not work on exclusive arrangements especially if the market is big.

Taiwan is the twelfth retail market for Dell in the Asia-Pacific region. The PC maker currently has nearly 40 retail partnerships in Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Dell is the No. 3 PC vendor in Asia, according to market analyst IDC's third-quarter report released last month.
