Dell has announced a new computer under its enterprise business-focused laptop line, the Latitude 13, which it calls "the world's thinnest 13-inch commercial client laptop."

Essentially the enterprise version of the Vostro 13 -- whose $450 price tag and 0.65-inch thickness we introduced back in December -- the Latitude 13 brings the Vostro 13's ULV power, ultra-thin form factor and 3.4-lb. curb weight to the world of commercial IT.

What that translates to:

  • Solid-state (SSD) drive
  • Full disk encryption
  • Trusted Platform Module
  • Computrace recovery software
  • Preinstalled Citrix client
  • Virtualization?ready
  • Remote manageability
  • Optional integrated Webcam/microphone
  • Optional WWAN mobile broadband
  • Bluetooth
  • 802.11g/n wireless LAN
  • Support for Broadcom TruManage technology
  • Dell ImageDirect service which lets IT create, update and deploy system images 24/7 from a secure online location

There also appears to be an option for a Blu-ray external drive. Maybe for those long business trips?

While pricing hasn't been announced yet, we should know soon. (A little Dell birdie tells us that they're aiming to start below $1,000.)

The Latitude 13 starts shipping later this month.
