Download this: Tripp Lite's new power-saving mode

UPS manufacturer Tripp Lite has added a feature to its PowerAlert software that will let you flip your UPS into an "Economy Mode" that reduces power consumption and that can also decrease heat produced in network closets or data centers.

The feature works with Tripp Lite SmartOnline UPS systems and can be operated in real time or according to a schedule (even one that you set remotely). The company says the new operating mode can boost its UPS' power efficiency to 97 percent.
