Evernote strikes Premium deal in Germany, updates search
Evernote has struck a deal with Deutsche Telekom that will see the telco's customers given Evernote Premium accounts.
Under the agreement, announced on Monday, Deutsche Telekom's 60 million fixed line customers will be given a one-year subscription to Evernote Premium, while existing Evernote Premium users will get an extra one-year added to their subscription.
Evernote and Deutsche Telekom are also holding a hackathon in Berlin next month, where developers will work on creating new apps built on Evernote and Deutsche Telekom's services.
The agreement with Germany's incumbent telco isn't the first deal Evernote has signed with a carrier: it already has deals with NTT DoCoMo in Japan, Orange in France, KT in Korea, Taiwan Mobile, and DoCoMo Pacific to give away Evernote Premium subscriptions.
Along with the Deutsche Telekom deal, Evernote also announced this week updates to search in Evernote Premium and Business. The two versions of Evernote will add attached documents, presentations and spreadsheets from Microsoft Office and iWork into its search results.
Evernote has recently been working on expanding into new markets: last month it made Evernote Business available in 26 new European countries, as well as Australia and New Zealand. Evernote has also said it planned to extend availability to 50 more countries in EMEA, Latin America and Asia before the middle of this year and has already launched the service in Hong Kong, Israel, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan and Turkey.
The company is also looking at retooling Evernote for large businesses, and is in the early stages of working on a version of Evernote for companies with several thousand employees.
