HP axes more staff

On top of the 15,000 to go in merger...

HP has laid off an unspecified number of employees in the US this week. The redundancies come on top of previously announced job cuts. The layoffs are not part of the 15,000 jobs that will be cut after the company's impending merger with Compaq, according to reports on US wires. HP announced 6,000 job cuts earlier this year as it struggles to stay afloat in a depressed PC market.
