HP has unveiled a range of storage products today to handle unpredictable risk management and data back-up.

Dubbed Federated Storage Area Management (FSAM) the range is based on Virtual Array 7100 software, HP Surestore hardware and HP OpenView software HP claims its suite of FSAM products will allow organisations to increase corporate back-up facilities with centralised resource management. The hardware giant hopes FSAM, described by HP, as a more scaleable and effectively administered network, will provide shared services to a group of servers and their applications. The second generation Surestore and its management platform OpenView Storage Area Manger can be utilised in the Windows environment. David Smith, storage category manager at HP, told silicon.com: "Companies see back up essential because of ecommerce. They can not afford downtime any more, so they need to buy peace of mind," he said.
