Just the chip for those super-thin servers...

Intel is planning to release a line of low-power chips for super-thin rack mounted servers at Comdex in the US later this month. The new model is based on the chip maker's Pentium III design for laptop computers unveiled in July, which minimise power consumption and give off less heat than ordinary CPUs. Speaking to US newswire news.com, a source claimed Intel will also launch a duel-processor early next year designed for low-power servers. The move hits back at Transmeta, which has launched successful low-power designs for the mobile and server markets.
